Barricades at Work .. Balls of Yarn at Home

I sit here waiting to send out an email blast long over due about the departure of our CEO. She leaves somewhat reluctantly but unable to pass up the amazing offer to merging organizations offered her. It's not really happy news for us, but while "the other side" trumpets their gains, we can't sit mute without seeming sullen. Thus I sit here waiting for the go ahead (or upteenth million revisions) to the email blast, but certain necessary parties (who shall remain nameless) are not cooperating, putting my supervisor in a tizzy, and thus me at well.

Meanwhile I've got a new knitting project: a cardigan! An actual article of clothing. I found it in Creative Knitting Magazine (the subscription was a Christmas gift from Mom. Thanks, Mom!). In the picture it's a beautiful vibrant green, but mine is called "Tequila" (see picture at right) -- equally springy in a different part of the color wheel. The coolest part about my yarn is that it is not cotton but bamboo (specifically bamboo yarn from Southwest Trading Company). Yes, that's right, spun from the fibres of bamboo plants. Way cool. Bamboo is a hot material in green circles because it's a renewable resource (better than trees, since it's actually a grass and grows very quickly) and not as stressful on the environment as growing cotton. Plus it's durable, has one-bazillion uses, and apparently it has natural anti-bacterial properties. And it's very breathable. I gotta admit, I'm curious. Can't wait to finish my cardigan!

Rock on! I am so psyched for you and this project. The yarn is beautiful. I'm going to start on my Icelandic cardigan soon and we can commiserate together.
