I want to thank my good friend Kelley for looking up the word "bubbler" on Wikipedia. It turns out that Bubbler was once a brand-name for a Kohler water fountain. See, people, we're not all crazy. Bubbler is a word.
And, as bizarre as this might sound to some people, the Kohler Design Center is a cool place to visit.

Who knew? According the Wikipedia article, people in MA and RI also use the term bubbler. So are you no longer alone with your use of the word bubbler? (I still think it's a weird term, but whatever!)
This is true, there are people in MA and RI who use the term as well. I am no longer "alone." I truly belong.
yes there is a distribution map here that demonstrates how widely used the term "bubbler" is - it is typical of 'sheboyganese' after Sheboygan county WI. according to legend the people at the kohler plant started calling the water fountain by its brand name, the assumption is that a factory in boston had the same type of water fountain. here is the link: http://csumc.wisc.edu/WiscEng/map.htm
