Hooray for Volunteers

Last night was the 3rd Annual Volunteer Appreciation Evening at Hearth. It was a simple affair but really nice. I think most volunteers, while appreciating a thank you, don't really want a big fancy reception. They know our resources are more needed elsewhere.

A lot of residents came, and we all had a good time mingling and talking. Plus the children there (belonging to staff) were totally entranced by the fish tank and the tiny baby guppies. Aw.....

But man, am I tired.

The night before I was in Worcester for the 3rd Annual Raising the Roof Auction and Food Festival for the Greater Worcester Habitat for Humanity. That was also oodles of fun. I reunited with the old crew and tried my hardest to win a set of Ryobi battery-powered tools. Alas. The bidding went too high for me. But I did manage to nab a canvas tote full of Trader Joe's goodies (yummy).

Busy nights plus lots of grey, cold, rainy days equals a down-and-out Jenny. My batteries need serious recharging! I plan to do nothing tonight. I can't wait.

But I'll probably come into work tomorrow so I can attempt to get ahead (ha ha ... More like stay almost-caught-up) in all the mailings and what-not for work.

Sigh.
