My Favorite Bond Flavor

I saw the new Bond Film this weekend. Casino Royale is one of the most enjoyable films I've seen all year. (And a 95% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes t' boot).

Daniel Craig is my favorite Bond. Now, I admit to not having studiously looked into all previous Bonds, and all the Connery bans will boo because they boo everyone. But Craig brings back some of the suave, devil-may-care, dangerous attitude that more recent Bonds have been missing.

Having only seen Craig play bad guys (Road to Perdition as the main example), I was very curious how he would interpret Bond. He does bring an edge and there's subtlety and boyish brashness (this is Bond at the beginning, remember). Now, perhaps the theme of "Bond learns a lesson" is a little over-done; his peers in the film bring up his "ego" too much (some of the dialogue lacked subtlety, and M seemed more like a clucking mother hen at moments) but it was interesting to see Bond honing the "secret" part of being a "secret agent."

I've completely moved on from the oh so sensitive Heath Ledger cowboy (yes, I know, his character was gay ... so what?) and now my dreams are filled with Daniel Craig - the edgy, dangerous, but oh so suave, Bond. James Bond.
