Fingers Crossed

My friend's 10-year-old nephew is having brain surgery on Monday to remove a tumor. The prospects look good, apparently, but never-the-less, that's quite the ordeal for a 10-year-old.

So, fingers crossed, everyone.

Farewell, Vanilla

I received an email from my mother this morning. She informed me that in her eternal cleaning-out-the-house process, Vanilla Bear was sent to Teddy Bear Heaven (a.k.a dumped unceremoniously into the trash).

I can't remember when exactly my grandparents gave me Vanilla (a very large 2 foot+ teddy bear with a brownish-grey body and a large yellow-y head the color of a yellow cake. Thus, I named him Vanilla). He may be older than my brother - about 24 years old.

Vanilla served as my guardian. I had a lovely crawl/hidey space between the wall and my headboard. Unfortunately, as it was rather dark in there, I was constantly on the lookout for monsters or ghosts to move in. Vanilla made sure that didn't happen.

It's sad to think the word is now bereft of Vanilla, but he did his teddy bear duty for a good number of years, and he deserves his rest.
