Delicious (educational?!) Spam

Best spam subject heading of the day:

"Man wrestles leopard hunting pet cnat in bedroom."

Yes, it was spelled "cnat" but I assumed it was supposed to be "cat."

For kicks I googled this (with cat spelled correctly), because the phrase was just to alluring to pass by, and it turns out to be an actual story, dated May 29th, from Reuters.
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - An Israeli man wrestled a leopard to the ground after it
entered his bedroom in a desert college and tried to make a meal of his pet cat.

I actually learned something from spam. Amazing. Unfortunately I also learned there are only 10 wild leopards left in Israel. Poor animal was so hungry it succumbed to breaking and entering. The pet cat survived, by the way.

Hmmm, spam

Every once in awhile a spammer really puts effort into a good email subject line. This one caught my eye and made me laugh:

"Welcome to the world of big monsters in pants and big possibilities!"

I can't help but picture a big Muppet monster strolling around in a pair of dockers ....

Spam-a-licious!

I received some excellent spam in my work account over the weekend:

1. "From Your Daughter Fatima" I was a little startled by this one. I had no idea that I had a daughter - let alone one named Fatima. Upon reading the email, however, I learned she was not my daughter (I was rather disappointed. To gain and lose a family member so quickly is rather traumatic.). Rather, she was the daughter of an assassinated cocoa merchant and needed help getting to America and accessing her inheritance. Even though she is offering a great deal of compensation if I help her, I'm still upset by her false declaration. I don't think I could help her after such a start to our relationship.

2. Mrs. Janet Obaseki asked me to help her move $18 million from Nigeria to the US. Her husband is throwing her out because she has not produced any children. However, he is apparently going to let her keep this $18 million - something I find rather suspect. She swears it was not gotten illegally or the result of selling drugs or weapons, but I find that hard to believe. Sorry, Mrs. Obaseki. I would think that a husband who is willing to let you keep $18 million will be able to help you even if he is dumping you.

3. For the second time, the British Online International Lottery has declared me a winner! Apparently my email was randomly chosen as one of 20 winners of $1 million. Fantastic! I didn't even have to buy a ticket or anything. I must say this all looks very legit. Until you scroll all the way down to the bottom and see that this was "Mail sent from WebMail service at Ring of Fire Wrestling." Somehow I don't see the British government using a pro-wrestling web mail service.

Politics and SPAM (yum)

First off: Heartfelt thanks, Senator Kerry, for deciding not to run for president. A difficult decision, I'm sure, but I think I speak for Americans everywhere when I say it is the right choice.

Next - and most amusingly: The SPAM of the day. I used to get bogus emails with the most amusing senders' names. But yesterday I received a fabulous subject heading:

"Do you want the women to chase you like cats chase mice?"

I'm a millionaire - almost

According to the most excellent piece of spam I received at work this morning, I won the UK National Lottery. $850,000 USD is the equivelent amount I won.

Ah, if only it were true.
