Well, let's try this again. Yesterday I tried to post my thoughts on Bush (shudder--I usually try not to think of him at all) and Blogger did not pull through for me. If it keeps disappointing me, I may go back to the old method.
Waking up this morning at the pre-crack of dawn (5:40AM with a second alarm set at 6:00AM) I heard Bob Oakes of WBUR interviewing Deval Patrick. Who's he? He's considering putting in a bid as the Democratic candidate for governor of Massachusetts in 2006. (I hear your groans: but it's barely 2005! Shush! I need something Democratic and positive to think about.) If he wins that bid, he would be the first African-American to run for governor in Mass. on a major party ticket. This news has really made my day. And as soon as he has a public address where I can reach him, I'm going to suggest/implore/beg/plead/grovel that he shine attention on the housing issues here in this expensive state of ours (yes, "ours." I got my MA driver's license on Wednesday. I'm offically a Massachutan, or whatever we're called).
Throw Deval Patrick into Google. You'll be amazed at the stuff he's done.
