Greetings! I've been meaning to post for a couple of days now--I caught snippets of some amusing conversations on the commuter train yesterday, for example--but I just haven't had the time. If I'm not busy making banana bread or asking my parents for money (it's the last time, I swear!), my roommates and are busy watching water pour down from the bathroom ceiling.
I'm trying to get out by March--the leaky ceiling is the last straw. This camel's back is broken. Of course, we first noticed water dripping from the ceiling a month ago. We told our building manager (the BM)--a.k.a representative of the CPA cult leader--about the leak, and she chalked it up to the upstairs tenents incorrectly hanging something to dry over the side of the bath tub. Even when I pointed out that all three tubs should be caulked around the base, this failed to produce any action. Our BM suggested that I do it. Not without some sort of payment, thank you very much.
So, Sunday night it rained down. By the time we noticed, the floor was already soaked (water was probably on the way down to the first floor). We set up a bucket to catch the most persistant drips. By morning the bucket (actually the waste basket) was about 1/3 full. Nice.
BM said she would stop by with the plumber. I met one of the plumbers. I hope he's not the plumber because he knows absolutely nothing. It shouldn't take a genius--no self-flattery intended--to figure out that you need to caulk around the base of the bathtub.
And yet... sigh.
So anyway on to better news! The unexpected windfall was a check placed on my desk this morning. $0 was directly deposited into my account by work, but good ol' CEEH came through anyway! I didn't need to ask my parents for money! Hooray for me!
I'll give you a moment to properly express your joy.
--Dance of Joy--
Today at the monthly staff meeting I not only get to introduce myself, I get to make the announcement about the Bloomingdale's Shopping Benefit Event. Fingers crossed that my verbal dyslexia doesn't surface!
