Public Transportation Woes

I really shouldn't complain. I love not having a car, and most of the time I'm quite satisfied with the MBTA (even though that's a very counter-culture stance to take here in Boston).

But yesterday after work was a bit difficult. I discovered that I lost my July T pass--not, obviously, the fault of anyone but me. But I've never done that, and it's so annoying! I paid to ride the Silver Line to New England Medical so that I could pay to get on the Orange Line to North Station. At North Station I missed the train to Waltham by half a second. Unbelievable. Got back on the Green Line (after ust missing the Orange Line)this time, which sat in the station for an inexplicably long time. Got to Park Street where I just missed the Red Line....

Oh, this is not very interesting and I've got better things to do than whine about my poor transporation day.

The up note was that once I got to Waltham I played Katamari Damacy, and I especially enjoyed rolling up cows for the Taurus Constellation level.

To work I go...

Could be worse, one time I was on the Red Line (in Chicago, all I know about the MBTA is that there's a lot of skinheads on it, thanks to the Dropkick Murphys) heading north from Comiskey and my sister called my girlfriend at told me to meet her at the Lake Street Station.

Of course, I assumed the Lake Street Red Line, but she wasn't there. So I thought to myself for a minute, "Shit, there's 4 Lake Street stations downtown alone, not to mention the Green Line runs Lake Street all the way to suburban Oak Park.

So I check the Red Line Station, then the Brown/Green/Orange Station, then the Brown/Green/Orange Station down a couple blocks. Then I figure that she must not have gotten to the Red Line yet. So I go back to the Red Line.

Finally, I remembered we were planning on going to Wicker Park, so I checked the Blue Line Lake St. Station. Sure enough, there she is and her cell phone wasn't working because she was in the subway (most of the CTA rail is elevated).

It only took like 45 minutes, but thank God for free transfers.
