Serve-A-Thon ... and Salman Rushdie

I am dancing in my chair. I just reserved two tickets to see Salman Rushdie next Tuesday. He will be reading from his new novel: Shalimar the Clown.

I'm going to see Rushdie. The Rushdie. The reclusive, in-hiding Rushdie. For me, this like seeing, I don't know, a really famous movie star.

Oh. My. God.

In other news... Jon and I will be participating in the City Year Serve-A-Thon on Saturday. I'm hoping it will invovle me needing tools, but I don't really care. I'm going to wear steel-toed boots and do hands-on volunteering somewhere in Boston. And I'll get a t-shirt. So there. What's not to love?

I would love to raise some extra money (it's a fundraising event also). So if any of my friends and family want to donate $5 , please mail it to me by Oct 7. Half will go to the Katrina Fund and half to City Year (there are city Year chapters all over the country--it's an Americorps Program).
