On Friday there were few people in the office. It was Veterans' Day and the office was very quiet. While working on the never-ending Annual Appeal project, I listened--as always--to NPR. Talk of the Nation: Science Friday is always one of the week's highlights, and this week was no different.
MIT has created a "fab lab;" that is, a fabrication laboratory. What's so cool about this lab is that it's created with very basic tools and some special open source software created at MIT's "Center for Bits and Atoms."
These labs can be created and used anywhere (Well, you do need electricity), and they have been with great success.
My personal favorite little invention is the Anemone Alarm Clock. I know a few people who could use this "interactive" alarm in the morning to get out of bed!
