It's over. It's finished. It's in the past tense. My first Annual Meeting has come and gone.
Thank goodness!
I am happy to report that all of my late-night and early morning slavery was worth it. All of my agonizing worry, all of my what-ifs, and my never-ending "to do" lists and "packing" lists paid off.
I have heard nothing but praise about the meeting.
In the end, though, it's the facia that pays off. My work was like the framing of the house. It's the flowers, the linens, the site itself and most importantly the speakers, who paint and decorate and make the structure into a home.
Beth, our President, was amazing and gave such a rousing speech that people literally stopped in their tracks to listen and trial lawyers cried. Let me repeat that: a trial lawyer cried. Unbelievable.
I'm working on a webpage for Hearth about the meeting, and when it's finished I can direct you there so you can get a better picture of the event. But as I was just at a two-hour meeting that re-hashed the whole thing, I don't really feel like going over it again.
But, I do need to point out one scandelous point: The Massachusetts State House has no handicapped parking. This is appalling and it was only by the grace of God that I managed to secure a parking spot for a frail guest of our event. No handi-capped parking at a government building--the government building of Massachusetts.
