Ah.... 6:30 on a Friday and where am I? at work. Of course, I could go home--work is really done for the day--but I wanted to sit down and type a bit more.
I'm busy analyzing our 2005 donor trends, forecasting for 2006, and planning for next month's mailings. I exist in all times at all times.
I've actually volunteered to take more work upon myself. I know, I know, what am I thinking? (especially when y'all hear me whining so often). But someone actually came up with a truly good idea: send out an email/mailing about Medicare-D. See, in case you're unaware, the new medicare drug plan (I assume that's the "D") has been nicknamed Medicare-Disaster by most social workers, nurses, etc. Navigating through it successfully is truly a life-threatening endeavor (hardly an exaggeration, since many people depend on life-saving medications), and Hearth staff has done an oustanding job for our residents (many of whom have incredibly complicated medical/finacial histories). So, we decided to share our good work and the info we've gleaned with our constituents. I think that's cool. It's not only a mailing about how great we are (we are, you know) but trying to help others out by trying to translate the government mess of Medicare.
I hear nothing good about it from my co-workers. It sounds just awful.... it sounds, truth be told, like it was written by insurance lobbiests... or people who care nothing about helping the elderly and disabled. Good grief.
Anyway, so that's why I'm still here at work. And now I'm leaving...
