That's right, tonight's the State of the Union address. Get out the popcorn, and make lots, because you'll probably end up throwing most of it at Bush's smug, gomer-ish face on the TV screen. In fact, the chances are quite high that you'd choke on a piece of popcorn during an uncontrolable bought of dersive snorting at his vapid stare and empty misprounced sentences.
Boy he's fun to make fun of.
I am, as a concienscious American citizen, going to attempt to watch/listen to the address instead of relying on tomorrow's many sound bites (and often the sound bites the media chooses aren't even the best ones!). In the past I have skipped the live perofmrance to read the text of the speech, but Bush has such a strange way of speaking (bizarre pauses and emphasis on off words) that often the oral and the written speechs, although technically identical, are radically different in meaning.
Work has been really busy -- but also producitve (not a lot of worrying fuss, just basic work), so I haven't had a lot of time to write or post more Florida pictures.
And last night Jon and I went to a dramatic reading of O'Neill's The Iceman Cometh at the Shubert Theater (part of the Wang Center). It was good--very good--but it lasted 4 hours. And then with the bus ride home, I didn't get in until midnight. It was a little hard to get going this morning. I had never read "The Iceman" and except for the fact takes place in a bar, I knew very little about it. Lots of fun characters--the actors doing the readings were wonderful.
And I need to mention my favorite gay cowboy Heath Ledger because I haven't brought him up in awhile. He should win Best Actor (and run away with me to cabin in the mountains of Wyoming..... no offense to his wife and new baby)!
Also, the 2nd installment of Bleak House was just as fabulous as the first. Next Sunday evening is soooo very far away.
