Stop the Presses!

Yesterday I called up Sir Speedy to have him print 450 invitations to an event coming up in May (yes, I know, the invites should probably have been sent out already).

This morning Big Boss came in and told me great news - but it meant I had to call Sir Speedy back up and tell him to STOP THE PRESSES! The good news means I need to add more text (and possibly re-arrange existing text) and thus:

STOP THE PRESSES!

Very exciting. I can post the news once it's officially official (since where I work isn't quite anonymous, I try to be careful what I post). Basically it means the event will have more pomp and circumstance, but better food! And I'll have help organizing everything. Goody.

I also turned a volunteer mishap into a new opportunity (I'm currently running the IA department, remember - all aspects from events, volunteers, grants, and of course donations). A group that has canceled and rescheduled twice, was a no-show. But we decided an even better activity for the group would be holding a food drive for us, a win-win situation. No worries about liability waivers, no worries about transportation, no worries about showing up. And we get much needed food for the food pantry. Sweet.

And I've discovered a new way to "sell" the hard-to-fill position of volunteer front desk worker. First it has been renamed Hospitality Volunteer (sounds way more fun, no?). Second, in the description, I highlight the what a great opportunity it is to see a nonprofit in action (the work of social workers and nurses close up) and interact with the residents). We'll see if my marketing savvy works.

In other work related news, I'm taxing my computer's limited power to the max with my "totally awesome" 30 day trial of Adobe Professional 8.0 which lets me do magical things like scan a document and turn it into a manipulable PDF. It's AMAZING! I stayed an hour late at work yesterday playing with it.

On the social front: I get to see Kelly on Friday! We went to college at good ol' UWEC but didn't meet until we both studied abroad in England. I pretty much met all my lasting college friends through that experience (Rebes! Sarah!). Anyway, her husband is crazy about cars and is driving across country to pick up some auto he purchased online in Rhode Island.

Wait, let me re-arrange that sentence so it makes sense.

He purchased the car online from someone in Rhode Island and has to out from Wisconsin to pick it up.

There, that's better.

Jenny,

I need to talk with you about something. I...I just haven't been feeling myself lately. I am shalom not sure what's wrong...people are starting to ask about me, and I am not sure what's going on. Please bear with me.

Yay! Fun with friends from Wisconsin! Kelly and Durand get to meet the real Jon. Huzzah!

Now if only I could drive up to Providence this weekend, it would be complete.

Hmmm...how far of a drive would it be? I do have the whole weekend off....

What is all this talk go to synagogue every week of the "real Jon"? I remember there was some imposter who GO TO SYNAGOGUE was posting here a while back, but I am pretty sure he is gone now.

I am going to go lay down now. I don't feel well.
