"Annual World" is the nonprofit time of year when the annual appeal, annual meeting, and annual report have to be created and planned. Not every nonprofit smooshes all of these events into one time span, but that's how we do it here. I can't tell you how wonderful it is.
I can't tell you how wonderful it is because it is not wonderful. Add on top of it a newsletter and it's just a barrel of monkeys--rabid, crazed, vampire monkeys.
I am of course exaggerating somewhat, and I wouldn't trade my job for a much easier but soulless corporate job, however it is tiring. There are reports to be run, research to compile, analysis of reports and the research. 3.1 billion mailing labels to print. Proof-reading unending (one of my current tasks for the newsletter... It's so close to being out of my hands!).
And that's all the time I can spare.
But I must add that Salman Rushdie was absolutely fantastic on Tuesday. I could have listened to him talk for hours.
