The recycled plastic bag tote bag was knit in three pieces: front, back, and gusset (which made up the sides and bottoms). Here is the gusset with smiley face measuring tape:
The gusset is made up mainly of brown Shaws bags (a grocery store chain here in Mass) along with a collection of white CVS and Walgreens bangs. And the smiley face measuring tape makes measuring fun!
It took me quite awhile to make this bag, only because knitting with plastic strips is not as enjoyable as knitting with yarn, although the messy look made it easy (no fuss about perfection in this project!). Plus gathering colorful bags for the front and back pieces took awhile (I only gained my plastic bags through legitmate means. No bags were taken purely to be cut up. All were gathered through shopping trips (shopping done by me and my roommates, actually).
