RIP

We had a memorial service today at work for a resident who passed away last week. I went in Monday and found out that "Dan" had collapsed while across the street in the corner market. (Almost fitting, really. I've been at the verge of collapse waiting in line over there myself). Death is a part of working with elders - especially the frail population my organization focuses on. But I always viewed Dan as one of the healthy ones. He wasn't in a wheelchair, didn't use a walker, wasn't noticeably ill in any way. I don't really know his story, only that he ended up needing a home and moved into the residence when it opened ten years ago.

I always thought of him as the puzzle guy - he was always working on a jumble or crossword puzzle. He was a good guy, never got angry at anyone, always very accepting. I miss seeing him in his blue sweatshirt with a puzzle in his hand.

They should have put a word jumble in the service bulletin they printed up for the residents.

That translates to "REST IN PEACE".

No pretending this time. I'm sorry for your loss.
